Things to Do in Frederick, MD

Things to Do in Frederick, MD

There’s so much to love about Frederick, Maryland. There is loads of small-town charm, coupled with access to big-city amenities that really makes it the best of both worlds. How do you make the most of your time here? These are a few of our favourite spots, in hopes that you’ll spend your time exploring more of what Frederick has to offer.

Locals will tell you that the historic downtown district of Frederick is the place where all of the fun begins. There are the quaint streets, the promenade along the water, the specialty shops and boutiques, the dining, and the architecture. It’s a great place to spend the day, to explore with the family, or to have a date night.

History buffs will love Frederick for all that it offers. You have national parks like Monocacy National Battlefield, Appalachian National Scenic Trail, Antietam National Battlefield, and more. Even close to downtown you have Baker Park, which is super popular with locals who like to go for a walk, hang out by Carroll Creek, or enjoy a concert in the bandshell during the summer.

One of the best parts about Frederick is the accessibility. You can easily get to Washington, Baltimore, or any of the three airports in the area. It is so easy to get around, and to commute, so that your life in Frederick meshes with your career.

How about the food? Frederick is a great place to grab breakfast, lunch, dinner, or simply a quick coffee. You can grab some of the finest Italian an Il Porto, low-key Cuban snacks at Sabor De Cuba, or even some freshly-smoked meat at Black Hog BBQ Bar. You can also take a load off and enjoy an espresso at the Perfect Blend or 11:11 Cafe.

We’re not the only ones who love Frederick, though, as the city has received the National Trust for Historic Preservation’s “Distinct Destinations” award, the “Great American Mainstream” recognition, and the city itself has even been listed as one of the “Great Places In America” for the work locals have put into beautifying the historic downtown. It’s true what they say: Once you’re in Frederick, you’re home – and we think you’ll agree.
